Privacy Policy

Page Pulse (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a Chrome extension that helps users capture and share technical issues on websites. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how data is processed.

1. How Page Pulse Works

Page Pulse monitors the active webpage in real time to detect high-severity technical errors (such as uncaught JavaScript exceptions or server-side 5xx failures).

When such an issue occurs, Page Pulse may automatically generate a diagnostic snapshot locally within your browser. These snapshots are stored only in your browser’s extension storage and are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share them.

2. Information Processed Locally

When a high-severity issue is detected, the extension may generate a local snapshot containing:

• Technical error information: error message and stack trace
• Failed network request metadata: HTTP method, status code, and URL path only
• Page URL: origin + pathname only; query parameters and fragments are removed
• Timestamp of occurrence
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Viewport dimensions

Automatic Redaction

Before any data is stored locally:

• Query parameters are removed from URLs
• Email addresses are redacted
• JWTs and token-like strings are redacted
• Long numeric identifiers are masked
• Stack traces are normalized
• Messages and stack traces are length-limited

Page Pulse does not store raw request bodies, response bodies, headers, cookies, authentication tokens, form inputs, or typed content.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

Page Pulse does not collect or store:

• Names or email addresses
• Passwords
• Form field contents
• Cookies
• Authentication tokens
• Payment information
• Request or response bodies
• Screen recordings or screenshots
• Background browsing activity
• Data from inactive tabs

The extension only processes the currently active page to detect technical errors.

4. Local Storage & Retention

Diagnostic snapshots are stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s extension storage.

To protect your privacy:

• Snapshots are automatically deleted after 14 days
• A maximum number of snapshots per domain is enforced
• You may manually delete snapshots at any time using the extension interface

Local snapshots never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.

5. Data Transmission (Manual Sharing Only)

Data is transmitted to our backend infrastructure only if you explicitly click “Generate Share Link.”

When you choose to share a report:

• A redacted diagnostic snapshot is uploaded securely via HTTPS
• The report is assigned a unique ID and a secure view token
• The share link requires both the ID and view token to access the report

Reports cannot be listed or discovered publicly. Access requires possession of the full share link.

6. Report Access & Deletion

Each shared report includes:

• A secure view token (required to access the report)
• A secure delete token (required to permanently delete the report)

Reports cannot be enumerated or accessed without the correct token.

You may delete a shared report at any time using the delete functionality provided in the extension or report interface.

7. Data Retention (Shared Reports)

Shared reports are stored securely in our database. We retain reports only for as long as necessary to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time.

We do not sell or rent user data.

8. Third-Party Infrastructure

We use:

• Supabase – Secure database storage
• Vercel – Hosting infrastructure

These providers process data solely to deliver the service and do not use it for advertising or resale.

9. Security

• All transmitted data is encrypted using HTTPS
• Row Level Security (RLS) policies restrict database access
• Reports cannot be listed or enumerated
• Access requires a valid view token
• Deletion requires a valid delete token

We implement reasonable technical safeguards to protect stored reports.

10. Scope of Permissions

Page Pulse requires access to webpages you visit in order to detect technical errors in real time. It does not monitor background activity or collect unrelated browsing data.

11. Your Rights

You may:

• Delete local snapshots at any time
• Delete shared reports at any time
• Stop using the extension at any time
